Batteries and power

Charging ports and DC jacks
The cable only charges at one angle, the plug falls out, or the laptop only runs while plugged in. On many machines the port or DC jack is soldered to the board. That is board-level work we do in house. Details are on our laptop charging port and battery repair page.
Storage, RAM and upgrades
A drive that clicks, freezes or fills with errors. An HDD that should become an SSD. More RAM when the machine allows it. Data that must come off a failing drive first goes through our data recovery path when needed.
Slow, noisy or overheating laptops
Dust-packed fans, thermal paste that has dried out, startup bloat and aging hard drives. We clean, tune and upgrade when that is the honest fix. When the board itself is failing, we say so.
Liquid spills and no-power boards
Coffee, water or a short after a spill. A laptop that will not turn on at all. We inspect the board, clean corrosion when we can and replace damaged connectors. Some boards are too far gone. If we cannot save it, we tell you what we found and talk about data options.
MacBooks, Windows laptops, Chromebooks and other brands are all in scope when parts and board access allow it. We do not claim any brand authorization we do not have.

All work is done at the Latham shop. People drive in from Albany, Colonie, Troy, Cohoes, Loudonville, Clifton Park, Schenectady, Niskayuna, Guilderland and nearby towns. Visits are by appointment only. Hours for calls and texts are 8 AM to midnight daily. Free pickup and delivery is available within 5 miles of the shop. - Repairs include a 30-day warranty on the work we did. If you already have a current written quote or published price from a local shop for the same repair on the same device, ask about Price Match Plus $20.
